Have you witnessed an ab machine infomercial? They will always have a man with washboard abs, or a woman who looks like a supermodel demonstrating the machines. The psychology of infomercials is to put the idea in your head that you can look like the people in the commercial if you buy the machine, that is why they do not show full figured people using the equipment. Naturally, they end the infomercial with “satisfied customers” who swear they lost weight purely because of the product.
I have nothing to suspect that they became slimmer on account of employing ab machines. I will wager to say the ab machine wasn’t the only part of their workout, even when ab machines do burn calories. These people probably did some running or cardiovascular exercises. In all likelihood, they too altered their eating patterns.
Ab equipment amasses muscle in the belly region, and it works well for burning off extra calories. That does not, however, indicate that you can eat whatever you want in unlimited quantities.
Yes, ab machines will build up muscle around the waistline, but an improper diet will cause fat to build up on top of the muscles! Look at Sumo wrestlers as a great example of this, they have huge stomachs, with tons of muscle behind the fat. They follow strict exercise and eating habits to build the fat over top of muscle.
A critical part of losing the belly is exercise and mental attitude. Appropriate nutrition is one more aspect that is equally vital.
Avoid eating food just prior to sleeping because fat accumulates in the body, while you are dozing. It’s a proven fact that eating a big breakfast and a reasonable lunch and supper will help keep your waistline slender. Mostly because after they are finished eating in the morning they will burn more calories throughout the day.
High calorie foods are things like fried foods, soda pop, and desserts, try to stay away from them if you can. Replace fried foods like French fries and potato chips with vegetables. You will have more energy and be taking in fewer calories at the same time.
I want to stress that it is perfectly okay to work the abdominal muscles with the ab machines. I just want people to also have realistic expectations. You should know that ab machines alone cannot and will not trim your waistline, but all the major muscles of the body should be given a work out every now and then. You need a good balance of proper exercise and diet to burn belly fat.
